Bond between Baby Michael and Nathan

As a Mommy now I wanted to make sure Nathan was taught the importance of good long time friends. I have been friends with Fon Yee since Gr 3 and that makes her a true best friend.  We've known each other long but the key is we don't need to talk on the phone every day or see each other every other weekend to be close.  Fon and I can literally not talk for months but always get back in key without a hitch.  Fon had baby Michael (aka Pork Bun) on January 23, 2012 and it was a special day because that is when Nathan instantly had a best buddy.  Below are a few pics of Nate and Michael.

Going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo!

Best story of the week I must say is our trip to the San Francisco zoo.  It was a first for all three of us and it was a nice quiet zoo.  The petting zoo was very interesting in terms of smells and odors but it didn't phase Nathan.  So back to the story - it involved Nathan and Mommy watching Daddy get his hot dog snatched from seagulls!  The seagulls were talented and precise!  They managed to get the hot dog right out of Robert's hands without touching Robert and without dropping the hot dog!  It was a perfect swoop!  Entertaining for those we went to the zoo with I must say.  It was a Facebook post asap after the event!  We will definitely be back to the zoo.

Nathan's First Trip to Toronto - Summary

Nathan was a great passenger on the airplane to and from Toronto.  He was a real trooper on his first trip and he did in the Winter nonetheless.  Nate now knows where Mommy and Daddy came from plus the hundreds of faces of family and friends that live in Toronto.   It was a packed schedule with daily visits to people's homes and to various restaurants but Nathan did his best to soak it all in.  Toronto will be a very special place for Nathan and hopefully on his first trip he felt the love from family and friends.  Only thing left to do now is plan the next trip!

Friends, Friends and More Friends

As a social butterfly before being a Mom it was important for me to make sure Nate had lots of playmates and to meet new friends and faces at an early age...12 weeks at this point so we are starting early!  On our Toronto visit Nate did not only spend lots of time with close cousins but met a few cute playmates such as Tegan, Ryder and Sidney.  I hope the next time they meet they will show Nate a few tricks up their sleeves on how to eat solids and what the latest and greatest toys are!

Yu Side of Things

Nathan's Dad side of the family is quite large.  Mommy has been overly posting on the Mom/Lam side so time to balance things off.  Nathan's Dad has 6 other siblings and in Chinese culture to make things simple in terms of communicating who is who in the family it is typically done by ranking.  Nathan's dad is 7 of 7 children.  Nathan's grandparents on his dad's side are no longer with us but always remembered and mentioned in our family talks.  So to start Robert's brother Ken is first in the ranks of the family.  Ken is married to Lisa and both Ken and Lisa have two boys David and Sean who are Nate's first cousins.  On Nate's visit to Toronto we managed to work out in the crazy schedule a gathering between Uncle Ken, Auntie Lisa and Nathan (of course Nate's other cousins Alexia and Kayla were there since they go where Nathan goes).

To complete Nathan's dad's siblings ranking, after Ken we have Soo Ling, Anna Yu who is married to Yogi and they both are the parents of Alexia and Kayla, Ho, Soo Bing, Soo Fun and then last is Robert Nate's dad.  Stay tuned on more posts of Nate's Uncles and Aunts!
